Hotaru
lamp (prototype), 2018
toukousai porcelain
L 25 x W 18 x H 10 mm
Made possible by Creative Industries Fund NL and Creative Residency Arita.
The design of the Hotaru lamp is inspired by a traditional Japanese hand-carving technique translated into CNC-milling. The lamp is made of toukousai (translucent porcelain) in three different thicknesses that create various shades of light. By switching on the light, the lamp turns into a sky with fireflies.
